Ross, Hopefully you have figured it out by now, but it sounds like you have everything correct - I don't know why you have output from the ANT1 RF output. I would refer you to page 62 in the Rev D manual -- the menu for XVn Pwr. Be certain you deal with the same XVn for all the steps - each transverter is a separate "band" for the K3.
