I upgraded too and the residual audio hiss level stayed about the same. Hiss bugs me too. The cure is to plug one of these http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102975 in series with your headphones, turn the K3's AF gain to minimum then adjust the adapter's control until the hiss just barely disappears. That will take care of the residual audio hiss. Works with any headphone. P.S.You will need a 1/4" to 1/8" stereo adapter.
