Hi, Please, see http://www.apogeekits.com/wrist_strap_tester.htm. It can test both your wrist strap, which you should use and the mat. I personally use a workbench with a conductive surface, no mat, and test the bench and wrist strap EVERY time I work on sensitive parts. IMHO
