I have the exact same problem with windows xp. Reinstalling HRD helped for a short while, but now it's back to freezing up again.
I think Simon is still wrapped up in his SDR project, so not sure when the next HRD release is due. Short of that, there doesn't appear to be a fix. At least none that anyone's been able to find.
