While disassembly is straightforward, there are a few "helps" that are 
handy, such as removing the screw from the 2D connector on the RF Board, 
that one is not intuitive.
Fortunately there a several mod instructions that detail the removal of 
the front panel and the DSP board so you can get to the encoders - 
download the instructions for the DSP Upgrade board.
