Jim, Yes. While this is said to be relatively uncommon it appears about a handful of us have experienced it..including moi.
What probably happened is one of the small rotary encoders (in my case the Speed/Mic) failed and shorted the switch matrix that controls the buttons on the front panel. According to Elecraft they had issues with some of these encoders and have a new vendor (I believe). In any event, contact Dale at Elecraft Service. He is very familiar with the problem. You may be given the option of replacing the front panel with one sent from Elecraft or sending the entire K3 back for repair. I elected the latter and used it as an opportunity for Elecraft to do a number of upgrades including the DSP.
