http://www.wrtc2010.ru/?id=75 Note the guys with both K3 and Yaesu FT857 were the ones that suffered a dual catastrophic destruction of both of their Elecraft K3's to a lightning strike. From the sounds of it it was either a direct strike or a very near one. The Yaesus were found around the area and given to them to get them back on the air.
