Participation is very hard to meet; I know of only FPP, Approval or CR, Borda, and Woodall's DAC and DSC methods which satisfy it. These methods all do nothing more than add up "points." (For a DSC description you could see http://wiki.electorama.com/wiki/DSC ) In IRV, adding votes can unpredictably affect the elimination order, in such a way that those voters prefer the result they would have gotten if they hadn't voted.
