Mr. Ossipoff wrote-- IRVies claim that after IRV eliminates all but 2 candidates, and a majority of all the voters prefer one of those to the other (as they surely will if no one equal-rates any candidates), then that means that that more preferred of those 2 candidates "has a majority" and is a "majority winner". --- D- Where L = Leftist, C = Centrist and R = Rightist, the *all but 2 candidates* might be LL LC CC CR RR or the very likely LR How often a L/R *ultra* or *regular* extremist will be one of the last 2 is unpredictable. How many Hitler-Stalin type elections do IRV folks want (especially for U.S.A. President, State governors, big city mayors to say nothing of every legislative body district election) ??? At least Plurality has some tendency to produce centrist results (by trying to get *semi-voluntary* centrist votes). Thus, IRV very likely will make politics even more extremist than currently by producing *forced* majorities as noted by Mr. Ossipoff (with the winners claiming all sorts of *mandates* to do whatever).
