Once again-- there will be polls (pending a constitutional amendment to prohibit them). If a candidate has the highest majority/ plurality in the polls, then his/her voters would be rather stupid to make additional choices if Approval is being used. Approval is an interim remedy pending number voting combined with YES/NO (especially if majority approval is required for single winner offices). It is because Approval does not use number votes is why it is defective. Where a candidate has de facto no chance of being elected, Approval would show a much larger protest vote-- as for Nader, Browne, Buchanan, etc. in 2000.
