If head to head math cannot be done, then a simple single winner method would be to simply have YES/ NO votes on each choice along with number votes, 1, 2, etc.
A refinement would be to note the contingent nature of any second or later YES vote. Example- 12 AXBXX 5 BXXXAX X = other YES choices of the 12 and 5 voters B would get only 5 contingent YES votes from the 12 voters (so as not to hurt A compared to B). In real elections, there may be other groups of voters, of course. The choice with the least YES votes would be eliminated (repeatedly). A choice should have a YES majority, if possible (especially for executive and judicial office winners). A *YES* vote should be deemed to be a *tolerable* vote.
