I have trouble finding value in the specific label "non-approved". All that I do not rank share being liked less than any others - as do those I assign lower ranks than others I indicate liking better.

Well, the strongest vote in a PR-STV election is one where you rank
all (bar one of ) the candidates, so that rule would force people who
only want to approve 1 candidate to cast a weak ranked vote.
