If you argue that tactical voting reduces Range to Approval, you can expect the
response that there's no evidence that everyone will vote tactically, and that
to the extent that they don't vote tactically, it's an improvement. And that if
everyone does vote tactically, then it's reduced to Approval, but Approval
isn't that bad.
