Dear all, The European Commission issued a public consultation on Corporate governance: http://ec.europa.eu/internal_market/consultations/2011/corporate-governance-framework_en.htm A public consultation means that the commission will consider the answers to the questions by the public. The answers will be published on the web of the Commission.
One of the questions (no. 21 - see http://ec.europa.eu/internal_market/company/docs/modern/com2011-164_en.pdf) concerns the representation of minority shareholders: "Do you think that minority shareholders need additional rights to represent their interests effectively in companies with controlling or dominant shareholders?" There are some other interesting questions in the document too, like no. 17: "What would be the best way for the EU to facilitate shareholder cooperation?" I am sending this to you in case anyone of you are interested in lobbying for proportional representation of shareholders on the board etc. Contributions should be sent to the following address to reach the Commission by 22 July 2011 at the latest: [email protected]. It is enough to answer only one of the questions in the contribution Maybe someone on this list would be interested, personally I do not consider myself expert enough.
