Ed,
I think you may have the key to my problem. I'm not sure however to
perform this maneuver.
Where do I "invoke Electric from the command line"? or place it in
the classpath? Sorry that I don't have your skills.
Let me point out that there is a difference between "Java3D" and the
Electric "3D controller".
"Java3D" is a separate product from Sun (or whomever) that gives Java
a 3D capability. When you install it, you are installing it INTO
YOUR JAVA INSTALLATION.
Electric's "3D controller" is a small add-on that enhances the 3D
experience and is not strictly necessary. In order to use this, you
must make use of special command-line repackaging that combines two
downloaded JAR files (Electric and the 3D controller).
From your error messages, it seems to me that you have failed to
properly install Java3D. In this case, no amount of command-line
typing when invoking Electric will make it work.
So perhaps the best solution here is to reinstall Java, making sure
that you have just one installation (sometimes people get multiple
Java installations because they install Java 1.5 and then 1.6 and
then updates to 1.6, etc.)
