Array function copies schematics and layout twice

Dear all,
When I tried the Array function in building, say a ring oscillator, I 
realised that Array copies the schematics and layouts twice.  Thus I had to 
delete the extra copies.  Can anyone explain to me why this is so?  Thanks.
