Sure. But, we would still require to know when they have made a release. For some packages: * The upstream source URLs have changed, or don't exist any more. * The authors have made tarballs, but, there is no automated way to know of newer releases. * The sources have moved to github, but, releases or tags have not been made. * The upstream e-mail addresses don't work anymore. In order to keep the package releases in sync with the upstream releases, upstream release monitoring is helpful. --- | I use all software I package, I know when its are releasable! \-- That is your decision, and I'd leave it at that.
