Hi Bruce, my reciever is only 20 watts or so, and I can't use more than a third up on the volume. Turn the volume all the way down and loudness off before hooking up. I also turn the speakers off, no need for them to get a beating, or the neighbors to hear those tones. If you want to listen to the progress, how about a set of headphones? I found that lower freqs around 500hz are about the lowest without burning, Around 1k hz gives a nice buzzing in my balls. What are you using for a source?
