there's no empty space, no white zone in the list view. So what are u suggesting?

Dragging a folder/file icon/name in icon view initiates a drag-and-drop. Consistency in behaviour should improve usability. Only initiating a drag over the icon/name should initiate a drag-and- drop, both in icon and list view. Initiating the dragging anywhere else should initiate a drag-and-select (including other columns in list view).
