Actually, looking at it again, it was correct all along. "What would have required overriding an expose event signal and manually drawing onto the Gdk.Window's surface with Cairo in GTK2," as in, what we used to have to do before GTK3 was around, "is now just a few lines of very-readable CSS," now that we have GTK3.
