Title:
Create a hardware compatibility database
Status in The official elementary website:
Confirmed
Bug description:
We get a lot of questions about how elementary performs on certain
hardware, and frankly we don't keep a record of what hardware it works
with. We should create (as part of the support section) some kind of
hardware compatibility database. Something where you can enter in the
Make and Model or serial number of your computer and then see a
picture and a nice grid of what features work well and which ones
don't work so well.
For example: ~boot time, web cam, sound, wireless, color profile,
sensors, suspend/hibernate, etc. We can reference the Ubuntu Mactel
guys to see all the stuff they test:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MacBookPro6-2/Natty
A key part of making this database work in our favor instead of
creating tons of work for us is going to be allowing users to submit
what they experience on their hardware.
