gp-export exports and imports objects to s-exps, and it is designed to be very configurable and have a lot of hooks, so maybe you don't need to use an external text-processing tool. Currently there is a limit that the history of exported objects are kept in memory, so it might not work for extremely big databases. I will fix it when I get to this limit myself, until then it is on the todo list.
