PS - I do have a live system that I've been incrementally migrating since September without any upgrades or fixes, so I don't think there is an obvious incompatibility.
Are you on a 64-bit or 32-bit machine? (and SBCL/Linux, I presume) I cleaned up some optimization code in memutils relating to serializing fixnums.
