I submitted ticket #579 for this issue but I think it's worthwhile raising it here for discussion. I can't find an easy way to determine an overall status (pass or fail) from the test suite. For the issue I just investigated (ticket #575) I bisected the failure by having the bisect script run "grep 'not ok' test.log" but this is awkward.
