After repeatedly fiddling with it, I've discovered that, if I don't look at any other option in the options manager BEFORE I look at display URI's, I will see it.
If I open and close other sections, as I did before when I was searching for the correct one, then nothing is visible under "plain rendering" when I finally get to it. Why that should be I have no idea, but I have tested it several times this morning, and that is the case. By the way, changing that option from 0 to 1 doesn't affect the problem with urls at tinyurl. Still can't copy them.
