Hi all,
Here it is my proposal for handling translations for Elisa. My main goal
is to establish a process simple and easy to understand. Comments on the
procedure are more than welcome.
In short, we are going to use Launchpad for handling the translations.
Michał Sawicz already submitted the current translations to Launchpad,
where they are waiting to be reviewed by the lp administrators. See:

In Launchpad we can have a set of translations for different release
series (trunk, Elisa 0.5, etc.) and that's a very interesting feature
that will be using. Probably now it's not very important, but it's
always a good practice to have a set of "stable" translations and a set
"work in progress" translations as we do with the code.
My proposal for each release is the following:
1. For each new release we have to establish several milestones: code
completion, translation deadline, release date, etc. The ideal scenario
would be to have the translations frozen in one point and then upload
the translations in Launchpad, let people translate them, and them put
them back in the code. As sometimes this is difficult achieve, I would
regularly monitor the translations and update the pot files in Launchpad
with the new translations and/or modifications.
2. Once we reach the translation deadline, I will merge the changes and
create a branch will all the translations. During the process of merging
I will take care that the translations are fine according to the rules
of the PO files. Of course I cannot review or fix languages that I don't
understand, but I can check that the new translations are syntactically
correct and they will not crash our application.
3. After that, I will propose the branch for review and merge into the
trunk for the release. If necessary, once merged, I will update the
Launchpad files again for that release series.
NOTE: Please remember that the Catalan translations I sent a week ago
are now out of sync. Please review and commit them so I can update the
translations in Launchad.
