Hi,
my name is Andrea Nigido and I'm Italian.
I just subscribed Elisa mailing list and I'm really interested in
playing a rule in the improvement of this fantastic Media Center.
I'm studying Informatic Engineering so I'm very interested in writing
code, plugins, etc but I don't know Python yet...
So, now I would like to start helping the project translating Elisa in
Italian.
My english is not so well (PET with merit level) but my spanish is quite
better (I lived in Barcelona for some time) and a friend of mine is
spanish mother-tongue (and speak english much better than me) so he can
help me with the job.
How can I do this?
Thanks
Andrea
Hi, Andrea.
If you want to start translating you'd better take a look at this file
-->
https://code.fluendo.com/elisa/trac/browser/trunk/elisa-core/data/translations.lst
It's a list of all plugins that maight be translated. Note that there
also 'base' plugin which is the basic application itself.
Browsing sources on TRAC isn't that hard, so i hope you'll find all the
directories. Just download the .pot files from each i18n directory of
that list, then rename it to ita.po (if you are planning to translate
into Italian) and edit it with special editors like PoEdit (win32 and
*nix) or KBabel (*nix) or it's successor - Lokalize in KDE4 (*nix and
win32). I used PoEdit since it's really very easy to set up. You just
open your new ita.po and begin to translate - line by line. You may also
use any other text editor, but there's a special formatting of the file,
so better use specialized software.
And if i'm not mistaken there's already Italian translation in Elisa -
you can see ita.po files in many (or in all?) of i18n directories. And
in the list of translators there's a string:
'Alessandro Decina (Italian)'
https://code.fluendo.com/elisa/trac/browser/trunk/elisa-core/TRANSLATORS
So, no work for you as a translator. But you may redownload all the
ita.po files and check spelling, grammar and sense of the whole
translation. It would be nice if you find any errors or typos or
anything and correct them.
Well, bye!
