Dear UMC Community,

it's been a while since there has been a bit noise here ;-)

as you all know, I had to drop away the leadership of UMC.
not because of a lack of interest, but due to real lack of time (check
my double sig for a clue).

until now, nobody stepped up to take over, and push this Community to give
its best, and raise Elisa to the top. And sadly, this Community has
silently fallen into the darkness...

I'm still lacking time, but I'm not happy with this situation. And I
don't like to be unhappy ;-)
So I've talked with several people and our Fluendo friends, and we
come the this:
they (Fluendo) would be happy to take the leadership, but need a few more months
to complete Elisa and get some free time back.

while waiting for this, we can revive the UMC Community slowly, by
summing up the situation, and cleaning / improving what we can.

This is only a beginning!
Loic (Dardant) will soon come up with a summary of the remote controls
support situation.
I've not yet had news from Denis (Gautherot) about the distro.
Nor from Bhavi about UMC security, gaming and his other project. But I
know he's still working on this.
Finally, I've just had news from Oumar (wattazoom), who has lived us for XBMC.
He should also write us a bit about that. A possible path for the UMC
project might be to federate an Elisa | Mythbuntu | XBMC effort.
It's up to you, the UMC Community, to express yourself and cast your
vote about all that.

Now, to slowly restart, I propose the following tiny tasks list:
* switch the mailing list to launchpad (Arnaud?)
* triage the applicants list (who? possibly Fluendo?)
* cleanup / update the wiki (who?)
* checkout the webserver / domain situation (who?)

Finally, to everybody:
if you have done something on your side, even a 5 mn brainstorming
session with yourself to get a powerful idea, step up and write us a
mail.
don't be shy, every FLOSS project is built upon ideas and discussions.
Something that seems crazy can sometime become a tech breakthrough.

cheers,
Arnaud
