I had the exact same idea... and a little more to it.
There should be a setting for what should be displayed on the background
layer, like if people wanted just a color, a picture, maybe he want a random
slide show. These settings are only overwritten when movies or pictures are
displayed.

poplesec... isn't that a metro?? Well its really bad naming convention for
non-spanish hackers  :S
