Elisa uses GStreamer to play sound so you can set which type of audio output you want it to use by typing:

gstreamer-properties

in a terminal, this program is also called Multimedia Systems Selector in the Ubunutu system menu.

Select alsa and you should be good to go. If it is still using pulseaudio after that, then you can close the pulseaudio server by using:

killall pulseaudio

before running elisa.

Hello

Is it really necessary to run the PulseAudio on top of ALSA when running Elisa.

When removing visialization 10% of the CPU is used when streaming from the internet to my Acer Aspire One. Python uses 1/3 of this and pulse the rest.

Is it possible instead to save CPU power and thereby not heating the CPU so much by running directly to ALSA.
