React and ember (for example) have the same problem. Even though you're writing JSX or handlebars, it still looks like HTML. It turns out that managing data flow and sensible view primitives are orthogonal problems. The good news is that if someone comes up with a CSS library or a new HTML standard, Elm can use it too. And, if you want something that compiles to HTML, you can use Element or write your own library.
