I'm on board for Reddit, tentatively. I know /r/learnelm has been proposed 
in other fora. I'm not convinced that Reddit has its users best interests 
at heart, however, so I'm kind of touching it from a distance.

That said, I don't think it can replace a mailing list in general. There's 
just something so nice about responding to discussions via my MUA :)
