Good Morning
Janne and Markus

Thank you both for your very prompt response to my inquiry. One thing
that will affect the acceptance and use of Linux for home theater
support will be the "correct" operation of a device that works a
"certain, logical, and productive" way under Win. A device such as a
hybrid tuner that directly tunes NTSC and ATSC under Win, it seems to
me, should tune a full range under Linux.

I am not a newbie with Linux but I am still learning to swim. I have
been in "system integration" for over 25 years and wrote more business
and scientific Fortran code years ago than I care to remember. In the
last five years I have done a lot of closed beta and some alpha testing
for Novell, IBM, and others. Right now Novell is trying to track down a
"certificate" problem I came across with SuSE Linux Enterprise 9. I
would be very happy to help in this effort in any way I can.

I have tried to setup a Hauppauge 950 under MythTV using both version
0.20 (stable) and the subversion package. I have been working under
OpenSuSE 10.2 with the Packman, repo/non-oss, and repo/oss "additions".
I have been able to setup a single tuner as either an NTSC device or as
a dvb/ATSC device. I do not make any changes in the driver, the
installed version of MythTV, or in the firmware. To make the switch I
just delete the configuration, drop the MySql database, and reselect the
tuner as a different type of device.

When I try for a hybrid setup using the analog option under the "dvb
setup" I have tried what I think is a logical selection and have not had
success. I have tried a couple of different selection sequences and
have had mixed station selection but I believe a black screen when I go
to "view tv". If either of you can send me a setup sequence I will be
happy to try it and send you any logs or files you might wish - or any
other information I can provide.

If either of you want to call my office number is 301-571-1971. I have
Vonage VoIP and I believe that most of Western Europe is a free call -
or at least very inexpensive.

Again, thank you for your response.
