Ah, I see: src/Makefile.in gets patched that way, it just did not get  
completely into my copy! (Sometimes I think that I do not use an up- 
to-date copy of GNU Emacs 23.)

I first saw this feature when choosing colours outside Emacs.app. In  
the Colour Chooser select the middle "Colours Palette" (three MS like  
rectangles with four colours each) and then select "Emacs" from the  
"List" button.
