Workaround: C-x C-f M-p RET. (No, I don't know why the new buffer is immediately killed again. The result is even stranger when I use Carbon Emacs as the server with the new emacsclient, this opens a buffer called "-current-frame".)
Unfortunately, trying to work around this by using an older emacsclient (/usr/bin/emacsclient or that from Carbon Emacs) leads to an "Unknown Command" error from rc3.
