Hello all

I am using \input{blah} in LaTeX files, which reads in blah; and I
have a bunch of files I usually use in a separate library, so that I
can construct custom documents. In order to make sure LaTeX can find
the right files without complaining, I created hard links using ln at
the command line in the same folder as the file which uses \input{blah}.

It seems that whenever I go edit blah directly, that is, NOT by
accessing it through the hard link, the linked "file" doesn't change---
a LaTeX run results in a typeset document that looks the same as it
did *before* the changes were made. It seems that the link is broken
in the sense that it points to an older copy of the file, not the new
copy.

It has been reported to me that TextMate doesn't break the link, which
suggests that it's not a symptom of problems with the Finder, or at
least, that in principle it's possible to edit ln'ed files w/o losing
the link.

Any ideas about how I can use Emacs.app to edit documents and preserve
the links?

Apologies if this is too far off topic or belongs in an Emacs mailing
list.

Thanks all

Adam
