But I was not trying to be funny. "Maximize" was a sincere suggestion. That is because if the goal is to analogize Emacs' behavior to that of applications familiar to new users then the widely used Multiple Document Interface application style must be taken into account: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiple_document_interface Except for the fact that MDI document windows are not tiled they are very akin to Emacs windows. An MDI document window invariably has iconize, close and maximize/restore icons on its title bar.
