I am not a LibreOffice / MS Word person (but my co-authors but my co-authors unfortunately are...) so I only stumbled upon this when was asked to give them a docx... file. I tried in LibreOffice, and indeed it does not seem to be possible. I don't know what the convention is, but I don't like that an invald .odt file is produced.
