We can also advice to use sparse checkout as described in https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/233327/is-it-possible-to-clone-only-part-of-a-git-project I just tried to do so for testing/ folder in Org repo. It was fairly fast. I guess that sparse clone should also be fine to prepare patches. Best, Ihor
