FYI I still get this "cannot be used in a non-Org buffer" error displayed whenever a new release of Org comes out. Then I have to "fix" it by swapping display-warning with message in org-element.el l.8477. I'm willing to try to help track down the code that's calling org-element-at-point incorrectly. Might take a while for me - love Emacs, not well versed in debugging it and packages.
Off the top of my head I see if when [re]building my agenda, and with org-roam somehow. I suspect it maybe org-roam (or my configuration of it) related, or in general my setup. I know that's nothing to go on for you, I just wanted to let you know, Mark isn't the only one seeing that message unexpectedly. (Maybe not the same cause.) Rob ?
