As I said, I have the same problems.

Though, I tried setting the size explicitly:

--8<---------------cut here---------------start------------->8---
(org-column ((t (:background "gold" :height 80 :family "Consolas"))))
(org-agenda-column-dateline ((t (:background "deep sky blue" :height 80 :family 
"Consolas"))))
--8<---------------cut here---------------end--------------->8---

but it does not help.
