I use org-mode in combination with mobileorg. The manual may mention
the use of davfs to mount te dav-directory on the workstation on which
emacs runs. Various unix-systems support davfs. Tramp and other less
straight forward mechanisms are circumvented by using a davfs mounted
directory. Also, ssh adds another authentication mechanism
to the server.
