I do not invoice from Ledger. I use a web based system called Freshbooks, and I'd recommend them. Ledger comes with few output formats, it is really just a reporting tool. I built some perl scripts that create expense reports in Latex from ledger output combined with scanned receipt images, but not invoicing.
