Hi Rob,

See this thread and Eric's response to it afterward (click "Next message by

<http://osdir.com/ml/emacs-orgmode-gnu/2010-08/msg00784.html>It seems that @
isn't really a markup tool in beamer. Perhaps someone can add Eric's fix to
orgmode proper? Here it is:

-----------------
(setq org-emphasis-alist (quote (("*" bold "<b>" "</b>")
("/" italic "<i>" "</i>")
("_" underline "<span
style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">" "</span>")
("=" org-code "<code>" "</code>" verbatim)
("~" org-verbatim "<code>" "</code>" verbatim)
("+" (:strike-through t) "<del>" "</del>")
("@" org-warning "<b>" "</b>")))
org-export-latex-emphasis-alist (quote
(("*" "\\textbf{%s}" nil)
("/" "\\emph{%s}" nil)
("_" "\\underline{%s}" nil)
("+" "\\texttt{%s}" nil)
("=" "\\verb=%s=" nil)
("~" "\\verb~%s~" t)
("@" "\\alert{%s}" nil)))
-----------------

You can just used \alert{text} and that will make alert text...
