C-, can not be input using an ASCII terminal as it would produce a line control character. > C-c ; Comment lines => C-c C-; > C-c @ Mark subtree => C-c C-@ C-@ may get lost in some terminals also (it's the NUL character). Any combinations with Shift were originally ignored and silently mapped to their non-shifted counterparts.
