I suggest you get the current CVS version and try with that...
The CVS set from last almost UTC midnight is in a bad condition: gcc does a fine job, but then comes compilation of the Elisp files with this repeated error:
Cannot open load file: encoded-kb
make[1]: *** [autoloads] Error 255In the end, an hour later, it gives:
make[1]: Target `bootstrap' not remade because of errors.
make: *** [bootstrap-build] Error 2
