Indeed -- when you set the background, it is the foreground of the sample that shows you the color. Perhaps face color samples should just be a box of the selected color as background (also for the foreground). Sorry for that! Don't be sorry. As a result of your report, I found that cua's faces were defined in a very obscure way -- I fixed that to use standard face inheritance. -- Kim F.
