Please show how this error can be reproduced starting from emacs -q --no-site-file.
It does not when I start emacs this way -- I have some calendar Elisp files "Germanized", given them German strings and holiday dates. I put these files into an extra directory from which they are loaded -- from they *were* loaded! Since I integrated the holiday lists completely into my Germanized versions, substituting the left original ones, I also removed "(require 'calendar)" -- and this caused the error! And I only thought of the re-compilation from this morning, sorry!
