Hi,
when a proportional font is chosen and fringe-mode is off and I have a line of text that begins with a narrow glyph (character) such as '(' or 'i', it is almost always impossible to define the selection (click+drag) with the mouse by moving the cursor to the left hand side over that character or by dragging it to the left of the frame.
I can reproduce this with a current (today) CVS build on Mac OS X 10.3.9 by choosing a lucida 14pt font (as defined in AquaMacs) and using any elisp code in a buffer (with lots of opening parens on the left) and making sure that (fringe-mode 0).
mouse-sel-mode doesn't seem to make a difference.
When I set pc-selection-mode to nil, I can see that I can't even move the point to the left border to the left of the narrow character, so setting the point with the mouse looks like the culprit to me.
Thanks Dave
