This has been corrected since. Apparently, in your older version,
somebody used @var, where they should have used @code. But anyway,
it has been replaced with an xref since. Look for the lower case
version of that variable. It does exist.
I searched Info with `s' (case-insensitive, I believe), and I used `-i'
(case-insensitive) in grep. I didn't find it anywhere.
Of course, I'm looking in a previous version - do you think that's it? Do
you happen to know where it is?
